Below are the latest regulations regarding the weekly rest policies for officers of the People's Army of Vietnam.

1. Weekly rest regime for officers of the Vietnam People's Army

According to Article 6 of Circular 153/2017/TT-BQP, the regulations regarding holiday and Tet leave policies for officers of the Vietnam People's Army are as follows:

- Annually, officers are entitled to holiday and Tet leave in accordance with the provisions of the 2019 Labor Code and the founding day of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22).

- For units performing combat readiness, training, or due to mission requirements, holiday and Tet leave is determined by the unit commanders at regiment level and equivalent or higher based on the unit's mission situation.

2. Annual leave regime for pfficers of the Vietnam People's Army

The annual leave regime for officers of the Vietnam People's Army according to Article 4 of Circular 153/2017/TT-BQP is as follows:

- Officers are entitled to annual leave as follows:

+ Under 15 years of service: 20 days;

+ From 15 years to under 25 years of service: 25 days;

+ 25 years of service or more: 30 days.

- Officers stationed far from their family (spouse; biological or legally adopted children; parents (both sides); legal guardians) when taking annual leave are entitled to an additional:

+ 10 days in the following cases:

++  Stationed  500  km  or  more  from  the  family;

++  Stationed  in  remote,  isolated,  border  areas  300  km  or  more  from  the  family;

++  Stationed  on  islands  within  the  Truong Sa, DK, etc.

+ 05 days in the following cases:

++  Stationed  300  km  to  less  than  500  km  from  the  family;

++  Stationed  in  remote,  isolated,  border  areas  200  km  or  more  from  the  family  with  a  regional  coefficient  of  0.5  or  more;

++  Stationed  on  islands  entitled  to  regional  allowances.

- Officers stipulated in Clause 2, Article 4 of Circular 153/2017/TT-BQP, due to mission requirements and cannot take annual leave, may be granted compensatory leave the following year as determined by the unit commander. In special cases, where mission requirements of the unit do not permit officers to take leave, salary payment for the unused leave days will be made according to Circular 13/2012/TT-BQP (effective until July 7, 2024).

- Travel time does not count against the number of annual leave days according to Clauses 1 and 2, Article 4 of Circular 153/2017/TT-BQP.

- Annually, the unit commanders from the regiment level and equivalent or higher, based on the unit's combat readiness, training, and operational duties, establish plans for officer leave, with the regular leave rate not exceeding 15% of the total officers in the unit. Non-combat readiness units may adjust based on the nature and requirements of their missions. Academies and schools mainly arrange for officers to take leave during the summer.
