According to the provisions of Article 14 of the Charter of the Vietnam Fatherland Front 2019 regarding the duties and powers of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front:
(1) Democratically consult on issuing the annual Coordination and Unification of Actions Program to implement the Action Program of the National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front;
(2) Democratically consult on appointing the Standing Committee, appointing, supplementing, replacing, and relieving from duties titles such as President, Vice President - General Secretary, Vice Presidents of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; appointing, supplementing, replacing, and relieving from duties members of the Central Committee, members of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (except for relief due to disciplinary issues as stipulated in Article 33 of the Charter of the Vietnam Fatherland Front 2019);
(3) Consider and decide on the recognition, or relieve from being a member organization of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at the central level (except for relief due to disciplinary issues as stipulated in Article 33 of the Charter of the Vietnam Fatherland Front 2019);
(4) Participate in building the Communist Party and State; carry out supervision and social criticism as prescribed by the Communist Party and state laws;
(5) Decide on organizing the next term of the National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
- The Vietnam Fatherland Front represents and protects the legitimate rights and interests of the People; expands and diversifies forms of gathering to unite the people; encourages the people to exercise democracy, human rights, and basic citizen rights and responsibilities, and implements the guidelines, policies of the Communist Party, and state laws.
- The people participate in the organization and activities of the Vietnam Fatherland Front through its member organizations and outstanding individuals who are members of the Committees of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels and participate in activities initiated and organized by the Vietnam Fatherland Front. The people give feedback, reflect, and make recommendations to the Vietnam Fatherland Front on issues of concern to be communicated to the Communist Party and State; they also supervise and provide social criticism according to the rules of the Communist Party and State.

The sources of operational funding for the Committees of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels include:
- Funding provided by the state budget;
- Funding granted for the implementation of programs and projects;
- Income from business activities in accordance with the law;
- Support from organizations and individuals both domestically and internationally.
The funding of the Committees of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at each level is managed and used by the respective Committee according to the legal regulations.

Propagate and mobilize the people to promote the tradition of patriotism, great national unity; participate in movements, patriotic emulation campaigns.
- Unite and cooperate with legitimate organizations of the People.
- Promote the positivity of exemplary individuals in various social classes, ethnicities, and religions to implement the coordination and unification of actions program of the Committees of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
- Recruit and develop members of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
- Propagate and mobilize overseas Vietnamese to unite their communities, assist each other in life, respect the laws of the host countries; preserve and promote the cultural identities and traditions of the nation; maintain ties with family and homeland, contributing to building and protecting the country.
- Through other activities related to the rights and responsibilities of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
