The following are the latest regulations on compliance with speed and distance regulations between vehicles in Vietnam.

According to Article 12 of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety 2024, the compliance with speed and minimum safe distance between vehicles is regulated as follows:
- Drivers and operators of specialized motorcycles must comply with the regulations on speed and the minimum safe distance from the vehicle ahead on the same lane or roadway.
- Road traffic participants must ensure their speed is appropriate for the conditions of the bridge, road, traffic density, terrain, weather, and other affecting factors to ensure safety.
- Road traffic participants must observe, reduce speed, or stop to ensure safety in the following cases:
+ At places with pedestrian crossings or other signals for pedestrians, or where pedestrians or wheelchairs for disabled persons are crossing the road;
+ Signals warning of danger or obstacles on the road;
+ Changing direction or limited visibility;
+ Where roads intersect at grade with other roads, including roads that intersect with railways; narrow, winding, or steep roads;
+ Narrow bridges, culverts, spillways, fords, tunnels, or underpasses;
+ Areas with schools, hospitals, bus stations, crowded public works, densely populated areas, markets, road construction sites, or scenes of road traffic accidents;
+ Animals on the road or grazing near the road;
+ Avoiding oncoming traffic or when allowing overtaking by vehicles behind; when there are signals requesting passage, emergency signals from a vehicle ahead in the same lane;
+ Bus stops or parking spots on the road with passengers boarding or alighting;
+ Encountering oversize, overweight cargo vehicles, dangerous goods; pedestrian groups;
+ Encountering priority vehicles;
+ Conditions of rain, wind, fog, smoke, dust, slippery roads, muddy surfaces, with much earth, rock, and material spillage affecting road traffic safety;
+ Areas where road traffic is currently under control.
- The Minister of Transport shall detail regulations on the speed and safe distance of motor vehicles and specialized motorcycles participating in road traffic.
According to Article 47 of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety 2024, regulations on ensuring road traffic order and safety in the transportation of passengers and goods by motorcycles, mopeds, and non-motorized vehicles are as follows:
- The use of motorcycles, mopeds, non-motorized vehicles for passenger and goods transportation must comply with the following regulations:
+ Inspect the vehicle's safety conditions before participating in road traffic;
+ When transporting goods, the driver must carry all legally required documents;
+ Inspect the arrangement of goods to ensure safety; do not carry more passengers, baggage, or goods than permitted, nor exceed the vehicle's dimensional limits;
+ Goods transported on the vehicle must be arranged neatly and secured tightly, ensuring no danger to persons and vehicles participating in road traffic; must not obstruct the driver's view; must not obscure lights or license plates;
+ When transporting loose goods, construction materials, or waste, avoid spilling on the road or causing noise, dust during transportation;
+ When transporting goods that extend in front or behind the vehicle, during the day, red signals must be placed at the front and rear ends of the goods, and at night or in low visibility conditions, lights or signals must be provided for road traffic participants to recognize.
- Provincial People's Committees shall regulate the use of motorcycles, mopeds, non-motorized vehicles for passenger and goods transportation business in the locality.
