On August 12, 2021, the Ministry of Health of Vietnam issued Official Dispatch 6577/BYT-KCB regarding compliance with surface environmental hygiene measures in healthcare facilities.

The Ministry of Health of Vietnam strictly requires no direct disinfection spraying on: healthcare workers; patients, patients' family members when visiting medical facilities and upon completing quarantine to return to their localities; clothing, personal items; personal protective equipment of healthcare workers; waste and fabric items.
Additionally, the Ministry of Health of Vietnam requires Directors of the Provincial and Municipal Departments of Health; Heads of Health Divisions in various sectors; Directors of Hospitals, Institutes under the Ministry of Health, and Universities' Hospitals to direct their affiliated units to:
- Strictly implement infection prevention and control measures for SARS-CoV-2 in medical facilities as outlined in Decision 5188/QD-BYT dated December 14, 2020, by the Minister of Health.
- Conduct appropriate surface environmental cleaning through disinfection wiping methods, especially on high-contact surfaces such as stair handrails, door handles, elevator buttons, patient transport vehicles...
- Do not spray disinfectant chemicals inside and outside patient rooms, walkways, or outdoor areas. Disinfection spraying should only be done on surfaces that cannot be wiped and when no one is present in that area.
- Regularly check and monitor compliance with surface environmental cleaning protocols and strictly handle any non-compliance behavior.
