The public holidays in the year for employees are currently specified in the Labor Code 2019.
Based on Article 112 of the Labor Code 2019:
Public holidays
1. Employees are entitled to leave work and receive full pay on the following public holidays:
a) New Year: 01 day (January 01 of the solar calendar);
b) Lunar New Year: 05 days;
c) Victory Day: 01 day (April 30 of the solar calendar);
d) International Labor Day: 01 day (May 01 of the solar calendar);
dd) National Day: 02 days (September 02 of the solar calendar and 01 day adjacent before or after);
e) Hung Kings' Commemoration Day: 01 day (March 10 of the lunar calendar).
According to the aforementioned regulations, after the Lunar New Year 2025, employees are entitled to an additional 4 public holidays, particularly:
- Hung Kings' Commemoration Day (this year falling on Monday – April 07, 2025): 01 day
As this falls on a Monday, it will be adjacent to the 02 weekly days off, which are Saturday and Sunday, for state officials and public employees, as well as employees working in private companies with a weekly day off on Saturday and Sunday.
Therefore, the public holiday for Hung Kings' Commemoration in these cases extends to 03 days (from April 05 to the end of April 07), including 01 public holiday as per regulation and 02 weekly days off.
For employees who do not have a weekly day off on Saturday, they will have a consecutive 02-day holiday for Hung Kings' Commemoration (April 06 and 07), including 01 public holiday as per regulation and 01 weekly day off.
- Victory Day (April 30) & International Labor Day (May 01): 02 days
According to the specific holiday schedule for 2025 in Notice 6150/TB-BLDTBXH, state officials and public employees will have a holiday for April 30 and May 01, 2025, of 05 consecutive days, from Wednesday, April 30, 2025, to the end of Sunday, May 04, 2025 (compensating work on Saturday, April 26, 2025). State officials and public employees are allowed to exchange the working day from Friday, May 02, 2025, to Saturday, April 26, 2025.
The holiday schedule for April 30 and May 01, for employees in private companies will be determined by the companies themselves, but must ensure 02 days off as per regulation.
- National Day (September 02): 02 days
According to Notice 6150/TB-BLDTBXH for 2024, state officials and public employees will have a 04-day holiday from Saturday, August 30, 2025, to the end of Tuesday, September 02, 2025 (including 02 public holidays as per regulation and 02 weekly days off).
The holiday schedule for September 02, for employees in private companies will be determined by the companies themselves, but must ensure 02 days off as per regulation.
Based on Article 98 of the Labor Code 2019 on wages for overtime work, night work:
Overtime, night work wages
1. Employees working overtime are paid based on the wage unit price or the actual wage paid for the current task as follows:
a) On regular days, at least 150%;
b) On weekly days off, at least 200%;
c) On public holidays, Tet, days with paid leave, at least 300% excluding the daily wage for public holidays, Tet, and paid leave for employees with daily wages.
2. Employees working at night are paid extra at least 30% of the wage calculated based on the wage unit price or the actual wage paid for the daily work on normal days.
3. Employees working overtime at night, besides being paid as per clauses 1 and 2 of this Article, are also paid an additional 20% of the wage calculated based on the wage unit price or the wage for the daytime work of a regular working day, weekly day off, or public holiday, Tet.

Based on the above regulations, if including the regular daily wage, employees working on a public holiday will receive a salary as follows:
- For working during the day: at least 400% of the normal daily wage
- For working at night: at least 490% of the normal daily wage.
