Decree 55/2021/ND-CP amending Decree 155/2016/ND-CP stipulates penalties for administrative violations in the field of environmental protection in Vietnam
From July 10, 2021, the act of littering domestic waste shall be fined up to 2 million VND in Vietnam (Artwork)
Accordingly, in Clause 18, Article 1 of Decree 55 (amending and supplementing Article 20 of Decree 155) as follows:
- A fine ranging from VND 500,000 to VND 1,000,000 shall be imposed for the act of throwing or littering domestic waste outside of permitted places at residential, commercial, service or public areas in Vietnam.
(Currently, the fine for this act is a fine of between VND 3,000,000 and 5,000,000 according to point c, clause 1, Article 20 of Decree 155).
- A fine ranging from VND 1,000,000 to VND 2,000,000 shall be imposed for the act of throwing or littering domestic waste on sidewalks, pavements or municipal sewerage systems or surface water drainage systems; the act of pouring wastewater outside of the permitted places on road sidewalks or pavements.
(Currently, a fine ranging from 5,000,000 VND to 7,000,000 for the act specified in points d Article 1 Clause 1 Article 20 Decree 155)
Note that the above fine level applies to individuals only, in which case the violating organization will be subject to a fine equal to two times the fine level applied to individuals.
