Fireworks display locations for Lunar New Year in 2025 in Hue City

According to Plan 446/KH-UBND, Hue City will organize activities to celebrate the Vietnam Communist Party, and Lunar New Year in 2025. Hue City will set off high-altitude fireworks to welcome the new year at the center of Hue City and three localities including A Luoi, Phong Dien, and Phu Loc.

Additionally, there will be many other activities to welcome the new year under the theme "Celebrating national renewal, celebrating the glorious Communist Party, celebrating Lunar New Year."

The New Year art program at the space in front of Quoc Hoc Specialized High School gate on Le Loi Street from 19:30 to 21:30 on January 28, 2025; the New Year art program at Ngo Mon Square from 21:30 on January 28, 2025, to 00:15 on January 29, 2025.

Along with this, there will be offerings of incense and flowers commemorating 95 years of the establishment of the Communist Party of Vietnam; organized cultural activities, folk games, and sports in districts and district-level towns and cities; organizing general clean-up, decoration, and tree planting for Tet.

Regulations on the permitted cases for setting off fireworks in Vietnam

Based on Article 11 of Decree 137/2020/ND-CP (amended and supplemented by Clause 2 Article 3 Decree 56/2023/ND-CP), the cases allowed to organize fireworks include:

(1) Lunar New Year

- Major cities directly under the central government and Thua Thien Hue province are allowed to set off high-altitude and low-altitude fireworks, with a duration not exceeding 15 minutes.

- Other provinces are allowed to set off low-altitude fireworks, with a duration not exceeding 15 minutes.

- Timing is at the moment of Lunar New Year's Eve.

(2) Hung Kings' Commemoration Day

- Phu Tho province is allowed to set off low-altitude fireworks, with a duration not exceeding 15 minutes, at the Hung Temple area.

- Timing is 21:00 on the 9th day of the lunar calendar's March.

(3) National Day

- Major cities directly under the central government and Thua Thien Hue province are allowed to set off high-altitude and low-altitude fireworks, with a duration not exceeding 15 minutes.

- Other provinces are allowed to set off low-altitude fireworks, with a duration not exceeding 15 minutes.

- Timing is 21:00 on September 2.

(4) Dien Bien Phu Victory Day

- Dien Bien province is allowed to set off low-altitude fireworks, with a duration not exceeding 15 minutes, at Dien Bien Phu City.

- Timing is 21:00 on May 7.

(5) Victory Day (April 30)

- Hanoi Capital and Ho Chi Minh City are allowed to set off high-altitude and low-altitude fireworks, with a duration not exceeding 15 minutes.

- Timing is 21:00 on April 30.

(6) Celebration of Provincial/City Liberation Day or Establishment Day

- Major cities directly under the central government and Thua Thien Hue province are allowed to set off high-altitude and low-altitude fireworks, with a duration not exceeding 15 minutes.

- Other provinces are allowed to set off low-altitude fireworks, with a duration not exceeding 15 minutes.

- Timing is 21:00 on the liberation or establishment day of the provinces and cities directly under the central government.

(7) National and international cultural, tourism, and sports events

(8) Other cases as decided by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism after unified written exchange with the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defense.

How citizens in Vietnam can use fireworks without violating the law?

According to Article 17 of Decree 137/2020/ND-CP, agencies, organizations, and individuals with full civil capacity are allowed to use fireworks in the following cases:

Festivals, New Year's Day, birthdays, weddings, conferences, inaugurations, anniversaries, and in cultural and artistic activities.

Note: When using fireworks, they must only be purchased from organizations and businesses authorized to manufacture and trade in fireworks, specifically the fireworks currently produced by factory Z121 of the Ministry of National Defense.

* Only Allowed to Use Fireworks

Fireworks are products manufactured either manually or industrially, producing sound, light, and color effects in space when actuated by mechanical, thermal, chemical, or electrical stimuli, without causing explosions.

* Not Allowed to Use Explosive Fireworks or Firecrackers

Firecrackers are products manufactured either manually or industrially, causing sound or whistling, explosion noises, and color effects in space when actuated by mechanical, thermal, chemical, or electrical stimuli;

Explosive firecrackers causing whistling and explosion noises with color effects in space are called exploding fireworks;

Low-altitude exploding fireworks are shells with diameters not exceeding 90 mm or a firing range not exceeding 120 m. High-altitude exploding fireworks are shells with diameters above 90 mm or a firing range exceeding 120 m;
