- Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics is an agency directly under the Party Central Committee and the Government; placed under the direct and regular leadership and direction of the Politburo and the Secretariat.

- Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics is a national center for training and fostering leaders, middle and high-level managers, and political theoretical scientists of the political system; National center for theoretical scientific research of Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh's ideology, Party guidelines, State policies and laws, political sciences, leadership and management sciences.

- Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics uses a seal shaped like the National Emblem and is a level I financial unit.

- Iinternational transaction name in English: Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (abbreviated as HCMA).

2. Duties and powers of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics in Vietnam

According to Article 2 of Decree 48/2014/ND-CP, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics carries out the following tasks and powers:

- Regarding training and fostering officials of the Party, State and socio-political organizations:

+ Training and fostering leaders, mid-level and senior managers of the political system, key leaders of public service units, and state-owned enterprises on:
Marxism - Leninism, Ho Chi Minh's thought; the views, policies, and guidelines of the Party; the policies and laws of the State; new theoretical and practical issues in the country and around the world; political science; leadership and management science;

+ Advanced training in political theory for current leaders and managers and in planning;

+ Fostering and updating new knowledge for officials holding leadership and management positions of agencies and organizations in the political system according to assignment and decentralization;

+ Training and fostering lecturers, researchers, and other subjects in the fields of political science, leadership science, management, and some social sciences;

+ Specialized training and retraining for officials working in the press and communication, propaganda, organization, inspection, mass mobilization, office, religion, and foreign affairs of the political system.

- Regarding scientific research:

+ Research Marxist - Leninist theory, Ho Chi Minh's ideology, the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; research political science, leadership science, management, and some social sciences; summarize practice and develop theory on socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam;

+ Research and compile the history of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the history of the world revolutionary movement;

+ Research, develop, supplement programs and content, and organize the compilation and revision of textbooks and learning materials for the Academy's training and fostering programs.

- Advise, propose, and provide theoretical and practical basis for the Party and State in planning guidelines for building and developing the country, innovating the organization and operation of the political system.

- Preside and coordinate with relevant agencies to develop, guide, and unify the management of the implementation of training and fostering programs and content; teaching and learning methods; scientific research; training management regulations; Training and fostering lecturers of political schools in provinces and centrally run cities.

- Preside and coordinate to guide the research, compilation, and participation in appraisal of Party history by localities, ministries, departments, branches, and central organizations; documents about the background and revolutionary career of President Ho Chi Minh and leaders of the Party and State.

- International cooperation in training and fostering cadres and scientific research with training and scientific agencies of other countries, communist and workers' parties, leftist and progressive forces, political parties, and ruling parties in countries around the world.

- Management of organizational structure, payroll, cadres, civil servants, and public employees; implementation of regimes, policies, training, fostering, emulation, rewards, and discipline for officers, civil servants, and public employees of the Academy according to assignment and decentralization.

- Financial and asset management; decide and take responsibility for investment projects within its authority according to regulations.

- Publish and distribute magazines, newsletters, scientific publications, and documents serving the Academy's staff training and scientific research activities according to Party and State regulations.

- Carry out a number of tasks and powers assigned by the Politburo, the Secretariat and the Government:

+ Undergraduate and postgraduate training in the training field of the Academy;

+ Manage and issue diplomas and certificates in the training and fostering fields of the Academy according to Party and State regulations;

+ Perform other tasks assigned by the Politburo, Secretariat and Government.
