According to Circular 80/2022/TT-BQP, the decoding of symbols and numbers of the military units during the war in service of searching and gathering the remains of martyrs in Vietnam is as follows:

(1) The work of deciphering the symbols and insignia of military units in the war of national liberation, defense of the Fatherland, and performing international obligations is carried out in accordance with Directive 07/CT-BQP of the Minister of National Defense in 2010 on deciphering the symbols and insignia of military units in the war of liberation and the war to protect the Fatherland.

(2) The database of decoding symbols and unit codes in the war of liberation and the war for the defense of the Fatherland approved and promulgated by a competent authority is the basis for searching and gathering the remains of martyrs. .

(3) Responsibility for collecting and processing information on decoding symbols and insignia of military units during the war:

Military Commands at provincial, divisional, and equivalent levels and above are responsible for checking and comparing information in the database of decoding symbols and unit codes provided by the Military Department, the General Staff.

In the event that there is no information in the database about decoding symbols and interpretations of military units during the war, the Provincial-level Military Commands are responsible for sending documents and requests to units of regiment level and equivalent or higher (places directly managing martyrs before dying) to check, verify and provide information. ; in case the unit directly managing the object has been dissolved or merged, it shall send it to divisional level and equivalent or higher to the agency or unit directly under the Ministry for inspection, verification and provision of information; In case the above agencies and units do not have information, they are requested to request the Military Department, the General Staff to inspect, verify and provide information to serve the search and collection of martyrs' remains.

In addition, the General Staff is responsible for directing and guiding agencies and units to continue implementing, exploiting, and using the results of decoding symbols, number of the military units during the war in service of searching for and gathering the remains of martyrs;

Promulgating according to its competence and implementing decisions on organization, staffing, and technical equipment to serve the task of searching for martyrs' remains;

Directing technical and tactical training, developing combat readiness plans, ensuring force safety, and providing technical equipment for forces directly performing the task of searching and gathering martyrs' remains;

Directing, coordinating, guiding, inspecting, mapping, searching, and gathering martyrs' remains.
