Specifically, the journalistic works considered for the Science and Technology Journalism Award are those that are truly typical and best meet the award's criteria, including:

(1) Regarding content: The work has content about scientific and technological activities; discover and propose ideas to promote scientific and technological development; introduce typical scientific and technological achievements; outstanding activities in science and technology of ministries, branches, and localities; and praise outstanding groups and individuals who have contributed to scientific and technological activities.

(2) Regarding format:

- Printed newspaper works: Printed newspaper works can be original or copied, with information about the author, the work, and the time the work was published.

- Electronic newspaper works: Electronic newspaper works must be printed on A4 size paper, have information about the author, the work, and the time of posting, and include the work's link.

- Radio works: Radio works must be backed up on a USB device with comments (or scripts) printed on A4 paper with information about the author, the work, and the time the work was posted.

- Television works: Television works must be backed up on a USB device with comments (or scripts) printed on A4 paper, with information about the author, the work and the time the work was posted.

- Photojournalistic works: Photojournalistic works include single photos, groups of photos or photo reports presented in color or black and white photos, taken with cameras or mobile phones or other digital devices, do not cut, add, remove, or edit details to distort reality. In cases of necessity, the Award Organizing Committee will require the author to submit original files to verify information about the author, work, and time of posting.

(3) Regarding the quality and social effectiveness of the work:

- The work must ensure timeliness, objectivity, honesty, standards, and science.

- The work has a positive impact on social life, creating public opinion.

Process for considering, announcing, and awarding Science and Technology Press Awards in Vietnam

The process of considering, announcing, and awarding the Science and Technology Press Award includes 3 steps:

Step 1: Consider giving the Preliminary round

- Based on the dossiers of journalistic works sent by the authors and compiled by the Standing Agency, the Preliminary Council holds a meeting to review and select works that meet the criteria in Article 5 of the Regulations issued with Decision 2644/QD-BKHCN in 2023 to be included in scoring at the final session of the Preliminary Council;

- Based on the number of journalistic works submitted annually, the Standing Agency decides on the number of meetings of the Preliminary Council, which must not meet more than 4 times/year;

- At the final meeting of the Preliminary Council, Council members will judge and score the works that have passed the Preliminary round according to the Preliminary selection criteria for the "Science and Technology Journalism Award"
(Detailed regulations in the Working Regulations of the Preliminary Council).

Works that achieve a minimum of 70 points (on a scale of 100) will be recommended by the Preliminary Council for inclusion in the Final round;

- After having a list of proposals for the Final round of the Preliminary Council, the Standing Agency sends an official dispatch (signed by the Head of the Award Organizing Committee) to units under the Ministry of Science and Technology.
according to the state management function of each unit to evaluate the accuracy of the content of the work and submit it to the Head of the Organizing Committee to sign a Decision approving the list of works entering the final round.

Step 2. Consideration for the Final round

- Based on the results of the Preliminary Council (North and South) approved by the Organizing Committee, the works entering the Final round will be considered and awarded by the Final Council according to the Working Regulations of the Final Council. ;

- The results of the Final Jury will be submitted to the Head of the Award Organizing Committee for consideration and decision. The Organizing Committee has the right to change the Award structure to suit the nature of each year based on the advice of the Final Council. The decision of the Organizing Committee is final. The Organizing Committee is responsible for submitting to the leaders of the Ministry of Science and Technology for approval the list of award-winning works;

- The number of prizes does not exceed the provisions in Article 12 of the Regulations issued with Decision 2644/QD-BKHCN in 2023.

Step 3: Announce and organize the Award Ceremony

The ceremony to announce the award results and organize the awarding of the year's "Science and Technology Journalism Award" will be organized by the Award Organizing Committee on the occasion of Vietnam Science and Technology Day on May 18 of the following year.
