1. What is the Vietnam Association of Marine Science and Technology?

Vietnam Association of Marine Science and Technology is a socio-professional, voluntary organization of Vietnamese individuals and organizations that have been engaged in teaching, scientific research, training, technology and technology transfer, dissemination, application, management, and business in the fields related to the sea, marine science, and technology to promote the development of marine science and technology in Vietnam.

2. Classification of members of Vietnam Association of Marine Science and Technology

Members of the Vietnam Association of Marine Science and Technology are classified as follows:

(1) Official members: Marine Science and Technology Associations of Provinces and centrally-run cities established by Decision of the provincial People's Committee and approved the operating charter in accordance with the law; Vietnamese legal entities and individuals engaged in teaching, scientific research, training, technology and technology transfer, dissemination, application, management, and business in the following fields: Those related to the sea, marine science and technology who agree with the Charter of the Vietnam Marine Science and Technology Association, and voluntarily apply to join the Association can be considered and decided by the Association's Standing Board.

(2) Associate members: individuals, organizations, joint ventures between Vietnamese enterprises and foreign enterprises, and enterprises with 100% foreign investment capital (enterprises with foreign elements) that are operating, producing, and doing business legally in Vietnam, contributing to the development of the Association, agreeing to the Association's Charter, may be considered and recognized by the Standing Board of the Association as associate members.

(3) Honorary members: Vietnamese citizens and organizations with prestige, contributing to the development of the Association but not having the conditions to directly participate in the Association's activities as an official member, If they agree to the Association's charter, they can be recognized as honorary members by the Standing Board of the Vietnam Marine Science and Technology Association.

3. Rights and obligations of members of the Vietnam Association of Marine Science and Technology

3.1. Membership benefits

Specifically, in Article 8 of the Charter issued together with Decision 892/QD-BNV in 2012, members of the Vietnam Association of Marine Science and Technology have the following rights:

- Individual members:

+ To participate in all activities of the Association, discuss and vote on all aspects of the Association's work, to be elected and stand for election to the Association's Executive Committee;

+ To give recommendations to the Association and its organizations for assistance, retraining, and improvement of professional qualifications in marine science and technology facilitated by the Association to put research results, applications of marine science and technology, and inventions into production and life. Prioritize the publication of research and application results in the Association's journals and publications;

+ To be provided with regular information on technical advances in the field of marine science and technology; creating favorable conditions for contact, meeting, and exchanging with organizations and individuals engaged in marine science and technology at home and abroad in order to raise the level and ability to conduct research, development, and application projects in marine science, engineering, and technology;

+ To receive the Card "Member of Vietnam Marine Science and Technology Association" and use this Card when participating in activities of the Association;

To have legitimate and legitimate rights and interests protected by the Association in activities consistent with the Association's tasks and powers;

+ To be asked to leave the Association when it is deemed impossible or unwilling to continue participating in the Association's activities. In this case, the member needs to officially notify in writing the Association or its affiliated organization 01 (one) month in advance and must return the Membership Card.

- Organized members:

+ To participate in activities, discuss, and vote on all general affairs of the Association;

+ To appoint delegates to the National Congress of Delegates of the Association;

+ To be granted the Certificate of "Collective Member of the Vietnam Association of Marine Science and Technology" and being given favorable conditions in professional activities and enjoy other benefits prescribed by the Association.

- Associate members and honorary members who enjoy the same rights and obligations as full members, except for the right to vote on matters of the association, are not allowed to vote or stand for election to the Executive Committee or Inspection Committee of the Association.

3.2. Obligations of members

Members of the Vietnam Association of Marine Science and Technology are responsible for performing the following obligations:

- Strictly abide by and strictly implement the Association's Charter, the resolutions of the General Meeting, resolutions and decisions of the Executive Board, the Standing Board of the Association. Actively respond to and participate in the Association's activities and take responsibility for performing the tasks assigned by the Association.

- Regularly participate in propaganda and development of new members.

- Protect the prestige and honor of the Association.

- Pay membership fees in full and on time as prescribed by the Executive Board of the Association.
