1. Cases suject to risk analysis for food safety in Vietnam

The subjects that must undergo risk analysis for food safety under Article 49 of the Food Safety Law 2010 include:

- Foods with a high rate of causing poisoning.

- Foods with sample results for monitoring showing a high rate of violations of technical regulations on food safety.

- Environments, food production, and business establishments suspected of causing contamination.

- Foods, food production, and business establishments subject to risk analysis as required by management.

2. Regulations on risk analysis activities concerning food safety in Vietnam

Regulations on risk analysis activities concerning food safety under Article 50 of the Food Safety Law 2010 are as follows:

- Risk analysis activities concerning food safety include activities related to the evaluation, management, and communication of food safety risks.

- Risk evaluation concerning food safety includes:

+ Investigating and testing to identify hazards related to food safety in groups of microbial, chemical, and physical agents;

+ Determining the risk of food safety hazards affecting health, the extent, and the scope of impact on public health.

- Risk management concerning food safety includes:

+ Implementing solutions to minimize food safety risks at each stage of the food supply chain;

+ Controlling and coordinating to minimize food safety risks in food service businesses and other food production and business activities.

- Risk communication concerning food safety includes:

+ Providing information on preventive measures in the event of food poisoning, foodborne diseases caused by unsafe food to enhance awareness and the sense of responsibility among the population regarding food safety risks;

+ Announcing and forecasting food safety risks; establishing an information system to warn about food safety risks and foodborne diseases.

3. Regulations on prevention and control of food safety incidents in Vietnam

Regulations on the prevention and control of food safety incidents under Article 52 of the Food Safety Law 2010 are as follows:

- Organizations and individuals detecting signs related to food safety incidents are responsible for promptly notifying the nearest medical facility, local People's Committee, or competent state authority to take immediate preventive measures.

- The preventive measures and control of food safety incidents include:

+ Ensuring safety during the production, business, and use of food;

+ Educating, disseminating, and popularizing knowledge and practices regarding food safety to organizations, production and business individuals, and consumers;

+ Inspecting and auditing food safety in food production and business;

+ Analyzing risks of food contamination;

+ Investigating, surveying, and storing data on food safety;

+ Storing food samples.

- People's Committees at all levels are responsible for organizing the implementation of preventive measures and controlling food safety incidents within their locality.

- The Ministry of Health, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Ministry of Industry and Trade organize the implementation of monitoring, prevention, and control programs for food safety incidents; organize the implementation of preventive and control measures for food safety incidents from abroad that pose risks to Vietnam within their assigned management fields.

- The Ministry of Health presides and cooperates with relevant ministries and central authorities to establish a food safety incident warning system.
