Cases of candidacy and nomination within the Party according to Decision 244-QD/TW in Vietnam

(1) For candidacy

Party candidacy is applied in the following cases:

- Party members officially run for election at the party congress of which they are a member. Official delegates of the congress stand for election at the congress of delegates.

- Official party members who are not congress delegates can apply to run for office at the grassroots party congress or apply for election to the party committee of the congress of delegates at the district level, equivalent, or higher.

- Executive committee members stand for election to the standing committee; Standing committee members stand for election as secretary or deputy secretary; In cases where a party committee only elects a secretary and deputy secretary and does not elect a standing committee, the party committee members have the right to run for election as secretary or deputy secretary (except for the cases specified in Article 13 of the Regulations issued together with Decision 244-QD/TW). In case the party cell congress does not elect a party committee, official party members have the right to run for election as secretary or deputy secretary.

- Member of the Central Executive Committee standing for election to the Politburo and Secretariat; Politburo members stand for election as General Secretary (except for the cases specified in Article 13 of the Regulations issued together with Decision 244-QD/TW).

- Party committee members run for election to the inspection committee of their level party committee.

- Member of the inspection committee stands for election as deputy head of the inspection committee.

(Article 9 of the Regulations issued together with Decision 244-QD/TW).

(2) For nominations

Party nomination is applied in the following cases:

- The Presidium (chairman) of the congress (conference) nominates the list of personnel prepared by the party committee convening the congress (conference).

- At the party congress, official party members, temporary party members, and reserve party members all have the right to nominate official party members of party cells and cells to be elected as delegates to a higher-level party congress or to be elected to your own-level party committee.

- At the congress of delegates, delegates officially nominate party members who are delegates and official party members who are not delegates of their level party congress to be elected to the party committee; Nominate an official delegate of your level's congress to be elected as a delegate to the superior party congress.

- Executive committee members nominate other executive committee members to be elected to the standing committee at the executive committee conference; nominate members of the Standing Committee to be elected as secretary or deputy secretary (except for the cases specified in Article 13 of the Regulations issued together with Decision 244-QD/TW).

- Central Executive Committee members nominate other Central Executive Committee members to be elected to the Politburo, Secretariat, and Central Inspection Committee; nominate Politburo members to be elected General Secretary (except for the cases specified in Article 13 of the Regulations issued together with Decision 244-QD/TW).

- Executive committee members nominate other executive committee members to be elected as members of the inspection committee; nominate members of the inspection committee to be elected chairman of the inspection committee (except for the cases specified in Article 13 of the Regulations issued together with Decision 244-QD/TW).

- A member of the inspection committee nominates another member of the inspection committee to be elected vice chairman of the inspection committee.
