03 things to know when registering and making electronic tax payment in Vietnam

Currently, many businesses have the need to pay taxes electronically because they do not have time to go to the tax department to fulfill their obligations. Here are 03 things to know when registering and making electronic tax payments in Vietnam.

1. Conditions to be registered for electronic tax payment

According to the instructions of the General Department of Taxation of Vietnam published on its official website, taxpayers voluntarily register for electronic tax payment when fully meeting the following conditions:

- Being an organization/enterprise granted a tax identification number/business identification number and is operating;

- Having a valid digital certificate issued by a public digital signature certification service provider;

- Having Internet connection and a stable email address with the Tax Authority;

- Electronic tax declaration is being made on the Tax Authority's web portal;

- Having an account at a commercial bank.

Note: In the present time, taxpayers who want to use the service need to have an account at a bank that has coordinated with the General Department of Taxation of Vietnam to provide the service and is under the management of Tax Departments and Tax Sub-Departments nationwide.

2. Benefits for taxpayers when paying taxes electronically

In the current 4.0 era, most things are encouraged to be done via the Internet because of its convenience, savings and efficiency. Similarly, electronic tax filing also brings a number of benefits to taxpayers, specifically as follows:

- Save travel costs and transaction time;

- Paper procedures when performing tax obligations are streamlined and simplified;

- Pay taxes at any location with an Internet connection;

- Pay taxes 24/7, including weekends and public holidays, with commercial banks confirming the transaction results right after sending the deposit slip;

- The Tax Authority's web portal can be accessed to view, print, and download the paid electronic payment notices and papers;

- Use other value-added services of commercial banks.

3. Steps to register to use the service:

Step 1: Taxpayers register to use the Electronic Tax Payment service on the web portal http://nopthue.gdt.gov.vn according to the steps in the user manual.

Step 2: Taxpayers download the authorization to debit account with the bank on the commercial bank's web portal or follow the following links:

Step 3: Taxpayers shall declare the information, then go to the commercial bank branch to carry out the registration procedure for authorization to debit the account for the electronic tax payment service.

Step 4: After the commercial bank branch approves the registration, the taxpayer will receive information about accepting the registration for using the electronic tax payment service via the registered email with the login password for the electronic tax payment service.
