Vietnamese Border Guard to be prioritized in residential land allocation

On December 6, 2021, the Government of Vietnam promulgated Decree 106/2021/ND-CP stipulating in details a number of articles of the Law on Vietnam Border.

The Decree stipulates incentive policies and specific benefits for Vietnamese Border Guard officers and soldiers, including the policy of prioritizing the residential land allocation when needed, specifically as follows:

Vietnamese officers, professional servicemens, workers and defense public employees of the Border Guard currently protecting borders and islands, are prioritzed by the local government where they move to, according to the regulation of the Law on Land. The cases above shall receive support in accommodation, housing for their families, jobs for their spouses and enjoy other benefits and policies as prescribed when:

- Having worked for 5 years or more;

- Having a need to move their family to settle down and settle down for a long-term life in border and island areas.

(Currently, Decree 02/1998/ND-CP does not provide for this policy).
