Vietnam: Warranty and maintenance period for motor vehicles provided by motor vehicle manufacturers, assemblers

The Government of Vietnam has officially approved Decree No. 116/2017/NĐ-CP on requirements for manufacturing, assembly and import of motor vehicles and trade in motor vehicle warranty and maintenance services.

According to Decree No. 116/2017/NĐ-CP of Vietnam’s Government, motor vehicle manufacturers, assemblers and importers are responsible for providing warranty and maintenance for motor vehicles in accordance with the law, with the warranty period as follows:

For brand-new motor vehicles, the warranty period shall be at least:

- 3 years or 100,000 km for cars;

- 2 years or 50,000 km for buses;

- 1 year or 30,000 km for the remaining classes of motor vehicles.

For imported second-hand motor vehicles, the warranty period shall be at least:

- 2 years or 50,000 km for cars;

- 1 year or 20,000 km for the remaining classes of motor vehicles.
