Vietnam: Using stimulants in sports shall be fined up to VND 15 million

This is a notable content of Decree No. 46/2019/NĐ-CP on penalties for administrative violations in sports issued on May 27, 2019 by the Government of Vietnam.

When there is an administrative violation in the field of sports, individuals shall be subject to a maximum fine of VND 50,000,000, while organizations shall be subject to a fine of VND 100,000,000.

Moreover, a fine of from VND 10,000,000 to VND 15,000,000 shall be imposed for use of stimulants under the list of banned stimulants used in sports training and competition. A fine of from VND 15,000,000 to VND 20,000,000 shall be imposed for shielding or enabling athletes to use stimulants under the list of banned stimulants used in sports training and competition.

Individuals who violate regulations on doping are also subject to additional penalties such as suspension from participating in sports tournaments from 1 to 3 months or from 3 to 6 months depending on the violation.
