Vietnam: To postpone new school year's start day in places with complicated COVID-19 situation

This is the proposal of the Minister of Education and Training to the People's Committees of provinces and cities where the COVID-19 epidemic situation is complicated according to Dispatch 848/CD-BGDĐT dated August 30, 2021 on organizing the opening of the school year and preparing for the new school year amid the complicated epidemic situation.

According to the Official Dispatch, for localities with a complicated situation due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee decided to postpone the start of the new school year until the epidemic situation is under control.

In the event that the safety of epidemic prevention is not guaranteed, it is possible to organize the general opening ceremony in the form of an online or on television so that students from the area under social distance can also enjoy the opening atmosphere of the locality and the whole country.

In addition, special attention is paid to directing educational institutions to strengthen coordination with students' families to organize educational activities suitable to the conditions of families, localities, and schools so that online teaching and teaching on television for grade 1 and grade 2 students ensure quality, practicality, and efficiency; and take practical measures to support disadvantaged students who lack learning facilities in Vietnam.
