Vietnam: To postpone enlistment for young volunteers on duty in extremely difficult areas

Below is the featured content specified in Decree 17/2021/ND-CP promulgated by the Government of Vietnam on March 9, 2021 on policies for young volunteers.

According to the Decree, youth volunteers in the process of performing tasks in areas with extremely difficult socio-economic conditions in Vietnam are entitled to a number of policies, as follows:

  • To be suspended or exempted from conscription in accordance with the Law on Military Service;
  • To be supported with a living allowance for the first 6 months since working in an area with extremely difficult socio-economic conditions. Each working month is entitled to a subsistence allowance equal to 01 times the prescribed base salary;

  • To fully benefit from employee regimes and policies in accordance with labor, social insurance, and health insurance regulations;

  • To receive at least two sets of youth volunteer uniforms and membership cards each year;

  • To be prioritized in borrowing capital from the Bank for Social Policies;

  • Volunteer youth members who have demonstrated merit and achievement in carrying out their duties will be recognized.
