Vietnam to complete regulations on verification of sellers’ accounts on e-commerce applications

On June 29, 2024, the National Assembly of Vietnam approved Resolution No. 141/2024/QH15 on inquiries at the 7th meeting of the 15th National Assembly of Vietnam, which contains contents related to the verification of sellers’ accounts on e-commerce applications.

Vietnam to complete regulations on verification of sellers’ accounts on e-commerce applications 

Specifically, regarding industry and trade, the National Assembly of Vietnam requests the Government of Vietnam, the Prime Minister of Vietnam, Ministries, ministerial agencies, the State Audit Office of Vietnam, and relevant agencies to:

- Continue to complete the law on e-commerce and the law on the protection of consumers’ rights. 

- Intensify decentralization in managing, supervising, and settling online disputes in e-commerce operations. 

- Implement additional research and complete regulations on the verification of accounts of individual sellers and information provision on e-commerce applications. 

- Accelerate the implementation of the “Vietnamese People Prioritize Using Vietnamese Goods” Campaign. 

- Intensify communications so that consumers carefully research information on products and sellers in online transactions. 

- Strictly control the origin of goods in e-commerce operations; combat commercial frauds, anti-competitive practices, unfair competition practices, and production of counterfeit goods and goods infringing on intellectual property rights. 

- Intensify the application of technology to the management and supervision of e-commerce websites and applications and strictly handle cases of law violations; ensure proper, adequate, and timely collection and prevent loss of tax revenues from e-commerce operations, business operations on e-commerce platforms, and business operations on cross-border e-commerce platforms. 

- Intensify the connection and data sharing among Ministries and central and local authorities for information utilization and protection of consumers’ rights in e-commerce operations.
