Vietnam to change the teaching hour norm of vocational educators

On December 28, 2022, the Minister of Education and Training of Vietnam promulgated Circular No. 28/2022/TT-BGDDT on amendments to Circulars on recruitment, use, training, and working regulations of vocational educators.

Specifically, Circular No. 28/2022/TT-BGDDT has amended the teaching hour norm of educators of universities and colleges in a year specified in Circular No. 07/2017/TT-BGDDT as follows:

The teaching hour norm of educators in an academic year: From 350 to 450 standard hours for college-level educators; from 400 to 510 standard hours for intermediate educators.

Principals and directors of vocational education and training institutions and establishments that engage in vocational training and education shall, according to practical situations and characteristics of each training profession and occupation, decide on the teaching hour norm and the appropriate minimum teaching hour for educators in an academic year.

(Previously, according to Circular No. 07/2017/TT-BGDDT, the teaching hour norm is as follows:

- From 380 to 450 standard hours for college-level educators;  

- From 430 to 510 standard hours for intermediate educators.)
