Vietnam to apply a 100% occupational preferential allowance to specific healthcare staff

On February 15, 2023, the Government of Vietnam promulgated Decree No. 05/2023/ND-CP on amendments to Decree No. 56/2011/ND-CP on preferential allowances by occupation for officials and public employees working in public healthcare facilities.

According to the Decree, the 100% occupational preferential allowance shall be applied from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2023 for healthcare public employees who:

- Regularly or directly specialize in preventive medicine (including border medical quarantine);

- Regularly or directly perform healthcare specialties in healthcare stations of communes, wards, commune-level towns, regional polyclinics, maternity homes, healthcare centers of districts, district-level towns, district-level cities, and hospitals of districts, district-level towns, and district-level cities.

Attention: During the application period of the 100% occupational preferential allowance to preventive medicine public employees and grassroots healthcare public employees mentioned above, regulations prescribed in Point c Clause 2 Article 3 and Clause 4 Article 3 of Decree No. 56/2011/ND-CP shall not be applied.
