Vietnam: The Prime Minister agrees to continue to support rice to save hunger for people in flood-affected areas

According to the Notification No. 372/TB-VPCP, after listening to the reports of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam about the situation, the work of overcoming the consequences of rain and flood and search and rescue and opinions expressed by localities and agencies at the meeting, the Prime Minister of Vietnam has directed the recommendations of localities such as continuing to support rice, financial support for home repair, emergency repair of damaged infrastructure works, continuing to support the construction of flood shelters and other urgent support recommendations as follows:

- Regarding the proposal to continue supporting rice: Agree to continue to support rice to save hunger for people in flood-affected areas. Assign the Ministry of Finance to assume the prime responsibility and coordinate with relevant agencies to promptly report to the Government for decision according to regulations;

- Regarding the request for financial support for house repair and urgent repair of damaged infrastructure works: In the immediate future, localities, using the supported funds, together with other local resources, urgently support people in accordance with regulations and overcome the most urgent works. Expeditiously review and assess specific damage, send it to the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control to summarize, coordinate with relevant agencies to propose and report early to the Government in accordance with regulations, timely supplement for localities and sectors;
