Vietnam: The Ministry of Education and Training issues criteria for evaluating local educational materials

Recently, the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam issued Circular 33/2020/TT-BGDDT regulating the appraisal of local educational materials.

In Article 3 of Circular 33/2020/TT-BGDDT of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam, the criteria for appraising local educational materials are stipulated, including:

- Criterion 1. Prerequisites of the materials;

- Criterion 2. Content of the materials;

- Criterion 3. Methods, forms of teaching and testing, and assessment in the materials;

- Criterion 4. Structure and presentation format of the materials;

- Criterion 5. Language used in the materials.

The content of the materials must ensure:

- Accurately and comprehensively represent issues regarding: Local culture and historical traditions; Local geography, economy, and vocational orientation; Local socio-political environment and other contents as specified in the local education content in the general education program;

- Ensure fundamental, scientific, practical principles that are suitable for local realities;

- Ensure that terminologies, concepts, definitions, statistics, events, and images are accurate, objective, consistent, and appropriate to the students' level; data, events, and images must have clear origins;
