Vietnam Temporarily Halts Export of Medicines for Covid-19 Prevention and Control

Recently, the Drug Administration of Vietnam (Ministry of Health) issued Official Dispatch No. 4162/QLD-KD to pharmaceutical manufacturing, exporting, and importing units regarding the temporary suspension of the export of COVID-19 prevention and control drugs.

Carrying out the directive of the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam in Directive 15/CT-TTg which requires: “Ministries, sectors, and localities must fully prepare human resources, equipment, medicine, medical supplies, and disease prevention and control plans, including mobilizing the material resources of organizations and enterprises, to ensure readiness to respond to a widespread epidemic” and Document 153/TB-VPCP dated April 10, 2020, which assigns the Ministry of Health: “Temporarily suspend the export of medicines used in COVID-19 treatment.”

To ensure supply and reserve of medicines for disease prevention and treatment for the people, the Drug Administration Department requires production, export, and import units to temporarily suspend the export of medicines according to the List of medicines used in COVID-19 treatment attached to this official dispatch from April 16, 2020, until there is a new announcement from the Drug Administration Department.
