Vietnam: Technical requirements for input data of national database on science and technology

The Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam issued Circular No. 05/2021/TT-BKHCN regulating technical requirements for input information of national database on science and technology.

According to the Circular No. 05/2021/TT-BKHCN, technical requirements for input data are prescribed as following:

(1) Technical requirements for data input techniques: Use Vietnamese code points satisfactory to TCVN 6909:2001 (ISO/IEC 10646-1:2000), Information technology – 16-bit Vietnamese code to update data.

(2) Technical format requirements for attached documents, for example:

- Document form:

+ Plain text (.txt);

+ Rich Text Format (.rtf);

+ Word and Word extensions of Microsoft (.doc; .docx);

+ Portable Document Format (.pdf) version 1.4 or higher;

+ Open Document Text format (.odt).

- Spreadsheet format:

+ Excel spreadsheet and Excel spreadsheet extensions of Microsoft (.xls; .xlsx);

+ Comma Separated Variable/Delimited format (.csv);

+ Open Document Spreadsheets format (.ods).

Circular No. 05/2021/TT-BKHCN takes effect from August 01 2021.
