Vietnam: Suspend all religious and belief activities in Chi Linh City and Dong Trieu town

Recently, the Ministry of Home Affairs of Vietnam issued Official Dispatch No. 416/BNV-TGCP on the implementation of a number of urgent measures to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic in religious establishments and belief establishments.

According to the Official Dispatch No. 416/BNV-TGCP, At this time, to prepare for the Tan Suu Lunar New Year, at belief and religious establishments, many early spring festivals will take place with a large number of followers and people attending. In implementation of the Directive 05/CT-TTg dated January 28, 2021 of the Prime Minister of Vietnam on a number of urgent measures to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic, ensure safety and prevent outbreaks, the Ministry of Home Affairs of Vietnam (the Government Religious Committee) respectfully requests religious organizations and belief establishments to strictly implement the following contents:

- Strictly implement the Directive 16/CT-TTg dated March 31, 2020 of the Prime Minister of Vietnam for a period of 21 days from 12:00 on January 28, 2021. Believers, dignitaries, positions, priests only go out of the house, place of belief, or religious establishment when absolutely necessary (such as buying food, food, medicine, first aid), and other emergencies. Keep a minimum distance of 2 meters when in contact, in belief establishments, religious establishments.

- Suspend all religious and belief activities that gather in large numbers. Dignitaries, civil servants, monks, believers and people must wear masks at religious establishments and belief establishments.
