Vietnam’s scheme for high school graduation exams from 2025 

According to the Decision, from the high school graduation exam in 2025, candidates shall have 2 compulsory exam subjects, which are Literature and Mathematics, and 2 optional exam subjects, selected from the other 12-grade subjects, including Foreign Language, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Economy and Law Education, Informatics, and Technology. 

Literature exams shall be taken in written form. Exams of other subjects shall be taken in multiple-choice form. 

(Previously, according to Circular No. 15/2020/TT-BGDDT, candidates shall have 5 exam papers, including: 3 independent papers: Mathematics, Literature, and Foreign Language; 1 paper of natural science (a combination of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology); 1 paper of social science (a combination of History, Geography, and Civic Education) with respect to students of compulsory education program at high school level or the papers of History and Geography with respect to students of continuing education program at high school level.)

Contents of subjects in high school graduation exams, from 2025, will closely follow the contents of the general education program 2018.

Candidates are learners who have completed the high school program or continuing education program at the high school level in the exam year or have completed the high school program or continuing education program at the high school level but have yet to take the high school graduation exam or have failed previous the high school graduation exam and wish to participate for high school graduation recognition.

Learners with high school diplomas or intermediate diplomas who wish to take the exam and use the results as the grounds for vocational education or higher education admission.

Regarding organization time: high school graduation exams, from 2025, shall be organized nationwide with the same question papers, exam period, and time according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam.
