Vietnam: Review of specific customs dossiers for import of beverages from January 1, 2020 to present

Recently, the General Department of Vietnam Customs issued Official Dispatch 6358/TCHQ-GSQL regarding the procedures for alcohol import.

To comply with customs procedures for alcoholic beverages (wine, beer, and other fermented drinks) specified in the Law on Customs and its guiding documents, the General Department of Vietnam Customs has given opinions on the review of specific customs dossiers as follows:

Provincial and municipal Customs Departments shall direct their subordinate Customs Sub-Departments to review all import customs declarations for beverages from January 01, 2020, to the present. Based on the Law on Prevention and Control of Harmful Effects of Alcoholic Beverages and the guidance in this Official Dispatch, if imported items are identified as alcohol, they must meet the import conditions as stipulated in the regulations on alcohol import conditions defined in Decree 105/2017/ND-CP amended by Decree 17/2020/ND-CP.

If it is found that the importer does not meet the above conditions, handle according to the regulations and report the review results to the General Department of Vietnam Customs (Customs Supervision and Management Department) before October 09, 2020 for consolidation.

Details can be found in Official Dispatch 6358/TCHQ-GSQL dated September 29, 2020.
