Vietnam: Promulgating the Regulations on national sign language standards for persons with disabilities

Recently, the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam issued Circular No. 17/2020/TT-BGDDT promulgating the Regulations on national sign language standards for persons with disabilities.

The national sign language standards for persons with disabilities prescribing Vietnamese sign language system to be utilized by persons.

The Vietnamese sign language system under this regulation consists of arrow schedule, alphabet and tone mark schedules, number schedule and list of words.

Number schedule consists of natural number from 0 to 9 and some other natural numbers. The list of signs consists of 408 signs arranged in Vietnamese alphabetical order with attached annex(es). The list of signs shall continue to be added and issued.
