Vietnam: Procedures for new card issuance for persons appointed as judicial experts from January 1, 2021

This is a notable content of the Circular No. 11/2020/TT-BTP regulating card form, order and procedures for new issuance and re-issuance of judicial expert cards issued by the Ministry of Justice of Vietnam on December 31, 2020.

According to provisions of the Circular No. 11/2020/TT-BTP issued by the Ministry of Justice of Vietnam, procedures for new card issuance for persons appointed as judicial experts from January 1, 2021 are as follows:

- Persons appointed as judicial experts submit 01 set of dossiers in accordance with Article 8 of the Law on Judicial Expertise of Vietnam together with 02 color portrait photos of size 2cm x 3cm (taken within the last 6 months) serving for the card issuance. The time limit for issuing decisions on appointment and issuance of judicial expert cards shall comply with the provisions of Article 9 of the Law on Judicial Expertise of Vietnam.

The decision on appointment and issuance of a judicial expert card, enclosed with the dossier, shall be forwarded to the unit under the ministry or ministerial-level agency assigned to act as the focal point for joint management of judicial expertise and the Department of Justice.

- Within 10 days from the date of receipt of the decision on appointment and issuance of the judicial expert card together with the above-mentioned documents, the head of the unit affiliated to the ministry or ministerial-level agency assigned to do the following: the focal point for general management of judicial expertise to assist ministers and heads of ministerial-level agencies in granting judicial expertise cards; The Director of the Department of Justice assists the President of the People's Committee of the province in granting the card of judicial expert.
