Vietnam: Only conversion from a private higher education institution to a non-profit private higher education institution is permitted

This is a notable content specified in the Law on amendments to the Law on Higher Education 2018 of Vietnam issued on November 19, 2018.

According to the Amending Law on Higher Education of Vietnam, higher education institutions are classified into 02 types, which are public higher education institutions invested, maintained and represented by the State as the owner and private higher education institutions invested and maintained by domestic or foreign investors.

This Law specifies that only conversion from a private higher education institution to a non-profit private higher education institution is permitted.

A non-profit higher education institution is one in which the investor declares that the institution does not run for profit as written in the decision to permit its establishment or conversion.
