Vietnam: Increase the monthly allowance by 15% for retired elderly officials at the commune, ward, and township levels

From July 1, 2024, the adjustment of monthly allowances for retired elderly commune-level officials is as prescribed in Article 2 of Decree 75/2024/ND-CP of Vietnam's Government as follows:

- Increase by 15% the monthly allowance on the allowance enjoyed as of June 2024 for retired elderly commune, ward, and commune-level town officials.

The monthly allowance to be enjoyed from July 1, 2024, is calculated as follows:

Monthly allowance to be enjoyed from July 1, 2024 = Allowance enjoyed as of June 2024 x 1.15

In which: The allowance enjoyed as of June 2024 is the allowance stipulated in Clause 3, Article 2 of Circular 11/2023/TT-BNV.

- From July 1, 2024, after adjusting the monthly allowance for retired elderly commune-level officials according to the above provisions, if the allowance is less than 3,500,000 VND/month, it will be further adjusted as follows:

+ Increase by 300,000 VND/person/month for those with a monthly allowance below 3,200,000 VND/person/month;

+ Increase to 3,500,000 VND/person/month for those with a monthly allowance from 3,200,000 VND/person/month to less than 3,500,000 VND/person/month.

- Based on the above provisions, retired elderly commune-level officials, including: Former Secretaries of the Communist Party Committee, Presidents of the People's Committee, Deputy Secretaries, Vice Presidents, Standing members of the Communist Party Committee, Secretary Members of the People's Committee, Secretaries of the People's Council, Commune Military Commanders, Chiefs of Commune Police and other positions are entitled to a monthly allowance of 3,500,000 VND/month from July 1, 2024.

More details can be found in Circular 8/2024/TT-BNV effective from July 5, 2024.

The regime specified in Circular 8/2024/TT-BNV will be implemented from July 1, 2024.

Circular 8/2024/TT-BNV replaces Circular 11/2023/TT-BNV which guides the implementation of adjusting the monthly allowance for retired elderly commune, ward, and commune-level town officials.
