Vietnam: Guidelines on the arrangement of polling places

Recently, the Ministry of Home Affairs of Vietnam issued the Circular No. 1/2021/TT-BNV issued on January 11, 2021 guiding the organization of the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term in Vietnam.

According to Article 6 of the Circular No. 1/2021/TT-BNV of the Ministry of Home Affairs of Vietnam, the arrangement of polling places is guided as following:

- Depending on local physical conditions such as cultural houses, halls, schools, etc. and based on population distribution density in the polling area, the Election Team selects polling places (voting rooms) ensuring convenience for electors to vote. Polling places must be decorated dignified and economical; arrange entrances for electors to cast their ballots and exits for electors after voting; polling places must ensure security and order.

- Polling places including: entrance and exit gates, areas outside the polling rooms and areas inside the polling places must be decorated according to the instructions of the competent authority.

- The head of the Election Team must assign members of the Election Team to take turns guarding the polling place all day and the night before, on the day of the election and until the end of the voting to synthesize and make the vote counting report to the respective Election Commission.
