Vietnam: Guidelines for the investigation and trial of drug cases in 2021

Recently, the Supreme People’s Procuracy of Vietnam has just issued the Guidance No. 13/HD-VKSTC practice of precious principle, supervision of investigating and supervision of drug courts in 2021.

According to the Guidance No. 13/HD-VKSTC, the Supreme People's Procuracy of Vietnam shall guide Procuracoes at all levels to carry out key tasks in the field of the exercise of the right to prosecution, investigation and control of drug trials in 2021 as follows:

- Organize the implementation, grasp and effectively implement the Directives, Conclusions of the Politburo, Resolutions of the National Assembly, Plans and Programs of the Government of Vietnam on drug prevention and control, etc.;

- Concentrate on well performing the tasks of fighting injustice, wrongdoing and omission of criminals and offenders; improve the responsibilities and roles, quality and efficiency in the supervision of judicial activities;

- Actively coordinate with investigating agencies assigned to conduct a number of investigative activities and courts of the same level to strictly implement the Joint Circular on management and settlement of suspended cases and cases; conduct a general review and promptly and lawfully settle cases that are temporarily suspended from investigation, so that no wrongs, wrongdoings or crimes are omitted.
