Vietnam: Guidance on applying epidemic prevention measures to people returning from epidemic areas

The Ministry of Health of Vietnam issued Official Dispatch 6386/BYT-MT on the application of epidemic prevention and control measures to people returning from COVID-19 epidemic areas.

According to Vietnam's Official Dispatch 6386/BYT-MT, the instructions for isolating people coming from or returning from COVID-19 epidemic areas are divided into 2 groups:

- Group 1: Having received the full dose of the COVID-19 vaccine

This group includes the following cases:

+1 Having a vaccination certificate on the electronic health book or a certificate of full-dose vaccination from the vaccination facility in which the last dose was administered at least 14 days and not more than 12 months from the time of arrival/return to the locality ;

+ Or have recovered from COVID-19 (have a certificate of positive SAR-COV-2 RT-PCR test within 6 months of arrival/return to the locality) and have a certificate of recovered from COVID-19 or discharged from the hospital.

People in this group self-monitor their health at home and in their accommodation for 07 days from the date of arrival or return to the locality. They always follow the 5K Message and perform the test twice on the first day and the seventh day, if any. If the test results are positive for SARS-CoV-2, they will be handled according to regulations.

Group 2: Not vaccinated or not given enough doses of the COVID-19 vaccine

+ Maintain medical isolation at home and place of residence for 14 days from the date of arrival or return to the area, followed by 14 days of self-monitoring.

+ Perform the test three times on the first day, day seven, and day fourteen of medical isolation at home or place of residence.If there is a positive test result for SARS-CoV-2, it will be handled according to regulations.
