Vietnam: Gifts with value of up to VND 600,000 for martyrs' relatives in the Lunar New Year 2023

Decision 1548/QD-CTN on giving gifts to a number of subjects with meritorious services to the revolution on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Rabbit in 2023, promulgated by the State President of Vietnam on December 21, 2022.

Specifically, relatives of martyrs who are enjoying a monthly survivor allowance, relatives of two or more martyrs who are receiving a monthly survivor allowance will receive a gift of the Lunar New Year 2023 in Vietnam at the rate of 600,000 VND.

For the representative of the martyr's relatives; martyrs' worshipers (in case the martyr has no relatives), the Tet gift level is 300,000 VND.

In Vietnam's Official Dispatch 5374/LDTBXH-NCC dated December 27, 2022, the guidelines for the gift-giving in the New Year 2023 for the representative of the martyr's relatives from the President are as follows:

- The representative of a martyr's relative is the only person among the surviving martyrs' relatives who is eligible to receive one gift.

For cases where the representative of the martyr's relatives is also the recipient of gifts according to the provisions of Clause 1 and Point a, Clause 2, Article 1 of Decision 1548/QD-CTN, appoint a representative of the remaining relatives of the martyr to receive 01 gift as the representative of the martyr's relatives.

- If a martyr's relative has only one survivor and only one representative who is eligible for a gift under Point a, Clause 1, and Point a, Clause 2, Article 1 of Decision 1548/QD-CTN, that person will be awarded an additional reward as the martyr's relatives' representative.

- If the martyr's relatives have two or more living relatives who are all subject to gift giving under Point a, Clause 1, and Point a, Clause 2, Article 1 of Decision 1548/QD-CTN, one person shall receive one gift as the martyr's relatives' representative.

Vietnam's Decision 1548/QD-CTN takes effect from the date of signing and promulgation.
