This is a content newly mentioned in Decree No. 162/2018/NĐ-CP of Vietnam’s Government prescribing administrative penalties for civil aviation offenses, which officially comes into force from January 15, 2019.
According to Decree No. 162/2018/NĐ-CP of Vietnam’s Government, officially, a fine ranging from VND 500,000 to VND 1,000,000 shall be imposed for smoking, including e-cigarettes, or using lighters, matches or fire-causing objects at inappropriate places in an airport or aerodrome, or at the air navigation service provider’s premises.
Previously, Decree No. 147/2013/NĐ-CP of Vietnam’s Government only stipulated penalties for smoking on board the aircraft and smoking in the aircraft safety area.
Moreover, according to the new Decree, the fine will be different depending on where the smoking takes place, specifically as follows:
- Smoking on board the aircraft, including e-cigarettes: A fine ranging from VND 3,000,000 to VND 5,000,000;
- Smoking, including e-cigarettes, in the aircraft safety area or aviation fuel storage, fuel filling station or gas supply area in an airport or aerodrome: A fine ranging from VND 10,000,000 to VND 20,000,000.
