Vietnam: Failure to purchase insurance for construction workers as regulated by law shall be fined up to VND 40 million

This is a new notable content mentioned in Decree 139/2017/NĐ-CP of Vietnam’s Government providing for penalties for administrative violations against regulations on investment and construction; extraction, processing and trading of minerals used in construction, production and trading of building materials; management of infrastructural constructions; real estate business, housing development, management and operation of apartment buildings and office buildings.

According to Decree No. 139/2017/NĐ-CP of Vietnam’s Government, a fine ranging from VND 30,000,000 to VND 40,000,000 (from VND 20,000,000 to VND 30,000,000 according to current provision) shall be imposed for failure to purchase insurance for construction workers as regulated by law.

Concurrently, violating contractors and investors are forced to take remedial measures to buy insurance for employees.

Moreover, a fine ranging from VND 5,000,000 to VND 10,000,000 shall be imposed for failure to keep construction safety log or failure to sufficiently and properly record required contents in the construction safety log as regulated by law.
