On December 25, 2023, the National Assembly Standing Committee of Vietnam passed Resolution 941/NQ-UBTVQH15 on the Working Program of the National Assembly Standing Committee in 2024.

Expected sessions of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly of Vietnam in 2024

- Organize 12 regular sessions of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly (from the 29th session to the 40th session) and 02 specialized legal sessions (in March and August) to consider and decide on issues within the tasks and powers of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly.

The details and schedule of the regular sessions and specialized sessions of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly in 2024 are included in the appendix attached to this Resolution.

- Organize extraordinary sessions and other sessions of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly to address urgent and necessary tasks within the jurisdiction of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly as prescribed by law.

Foreign affairs and international cooperation activities of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly of Vietnam in 2024

- Direct the implementation of the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Program in 2024; continue to enhance the foreign affairs activities of the National Assembly in connection with the Party's external relations, state diplomacy, and people-to-people diplomacy, contributing to the effective implementation of the foreign policy direction according to the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress; ensure the leadership of the Politburo, the Party Central Committee Secretariat, and the Standing Committee of the National Assembly; and abide by the regulations and conclusions of the Politburo regarding the unified management of foreign activities and the work of Vietnamese abroad. Focus on implementing foreign activities of the Chairperson of the National Assembly and Vice Chairpersons of the National Assembly according to the approved program, ensuring effectiveness, practicality, and suitability to the actual situation. Implement activities serving the common foreign tasks of the country.

- Prioritize strengthening foreign affairs with parliamentary partners with special relations, neighboring countries, comprehensive strategic partners, strategic partners, and other important partners.

- Continue to promote and elevate the multilateral diplomacy of the National Assembly based on closely following Directive No. 25-CT/TW of August 8, 2018 of the Party Central Committee on promoting and elevating multilateral diplomacy by 2030, from active participation to active contribution in building and shaping transparent, democratic, fair, and sustainable multilateral mechanisms and international order. Actively participate and leverage roles in multilateral mechanisms such as AIPA, IPU, APPF, and other multilateral mechanisms, gradually playing a core, leading, and mediating role in areas where we have capabilities and interests.

- Enhance the quality of research, forecasting, and strategic consultation on foreign affairs with proactive, creative, and quick adaptation to the situation, and propose solutions and strategies to meet the requirements and tasks in the new situation.

- Evaluate the results of implementing the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Program in 2024; review and approve the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Program for 2025.

- Direct, coordinate, and harmonize the foreign affairs and international cooperation activities of the Secretary-General of the National Assembly, the Ethnic Council, the Committees of the National Assembly, the Office of the National Assembly, the agencies under the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, the State Audit Office, and friendly parliamentary groups.
