Vietnam: Condoms are goods that may be traded without declaration of eligibility to trade in medical equipment

The Ministry of Health of Vietnam issued Circular No. 46/2017/TT-BYT to provide guidelines for Decree No. 36/2016/ND-CP on medical devices management.

According to Circular No. 46/2017/TT-BYT of the Ministry of Health of Vietnam, there are 11 type B, C, D medical equipment that may be traded as normal goods without submission of declaration of eligibility to trade in medical equipment.

To be specific:

- Type B home-use in vitro diagnostic devices;

- Personal blood pressure monitors;

- Electronic thermometers, infrared thermometers;

- Personal blood glucose monitoring devices: blood glucose monitors, lancing devices, test trips, lancets, control solutions;

- Nebulizers;

- Adhesive bandages;

- Artificial tears classified as medical equipment;

- Condoms;

- Vaginal contraceptive films (drug-free);

- Vaginal lubricants;

- Electric heat bags.

More details can be found in Circular No. 46/2017/TT-BYT of the Ministry of Health of Vietnam, which takes effect from February 01, 2018.
