Vietnam: Conditions for promotion to professional title of archivist
The Minister of Home Affairs of Vietnam issued Circular 07/2022/TT-BNV stipulating titles, codes, standards for professional titles, examinations or consideration for promotion, appointment, and salary classification of specialized archivists.

According to Vietnam's Circular 07/2022/TT-BNV, the exam conditions for promotion of professional titles from archivist to main archivist include:
- Meeting the standards and conditions specified at Point a, Clause 1, Article 32 of Vietnam's Decree 115/2020/ND-CP, specifically:
+ Being graded at the level of completing tasks well or higher in the working year preceding the year of taking the exam or considering promotion to professional titles;
+ Having good political qualities and professional ethics;
+ Not within the time limit for disciplinary action, not during the implementation of regulations related to public employee discipline specified in Article 56 of the Law on Public Employees 2010 (amended by the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Cadres and Public Officials and the Law on Public Officials).
- Satisfying the standards for the professional title of Principal Archivist specified in Article 6 of Vietnam's Circular 07/2022/TT-BNV;
- Having held the professional title of Archivist and the equivalent for 09 years or more (excluding the probationary period or probationary period).
If the time of holding the civil servant rank or the public employee professional title is equivalent to the archivist's professional title, the current period of holding the archivist professional title must be at least 01 year (12 months) till the deadline to submit an application for promotion.
Vietnam's Circular 07/2022/TT-BNV takes effect from October 15, 2022, replacing Vietnam's Circular 13/2014/TT-BNV and Circular 08/2015/TT-BNV.
