Vietnam: Conditions for import and trade in goods through minor border posts

On February 27, 2018, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam issued Circular No. 01/2018/TT-BCT detailing goods sold, purchased or exchanged through minor border posts and open border routes by business persons.

According to Circular No. 01/2018/TT-BCT of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, goods imported under the form of purchase, sale, and exchange through minor border posts and open border routes by business persons are implemented as follows:

- Goods imported through minor border posts and open border routes within the economic zone of the border gate must comply with regulations on international trade activities and activities related to purchasing, selling, processing, and transiting goods with foreign countries.

- For minor border posts and open border routes outside the economic zone of the border gate, only imported goods in the List of Goods specified in Annex I attached to this Circular are allowed.

- Goods serving domestic production that are not listed in the List of Goods specified in Annex I attached to this Circular are only allowed to be imported through minor border posts and open border routes outside the economic zone of the border gate for a specific period as announced by the provincial People's Committee.

Circular No. 01/2018/TT-BCT of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam takes effect from February 27, 2018 and annuls Circular No. 34/2016/TT-BCT.
