Vietnam: Approval of the higher education network planning for the period 2021-2030

Recently, the Prime Minister of Vietnam issued Decision 209/QD-TTg Approving the task of formulating the master plan for the network of higher education and pedagogical institutions for the period of 2021–2030, with a vision to 2050.

According to Vietnam's Decision 209/QD-TTg the perspective of planning the network of higher education and pedagogical institutions for the period of 2021–2030 with a vision to 2050 mentioned in this decision includes:

The master plan must be consistent with the Communist Party of Vietnam's guidelines and policies on higher education development, the socio-economic development strategy for the 2021–2030 period, the education development strategy for the 2021–2030 period, and other relevant planning;
Planning to review and rearrange the system of higher education and pedagogical institutions to ensure a reasonable scale, structure of occupations and regional distribution, to meet the needs of human resources for socio-economic development of Vietnam and local;
Planning to improve investment efficiency and training quality, promote innovation, creativity, and business connections;
Planning in an open direction, creating favorable conditions for domestic and foreign investors to establish new private higher education institutions;
The state has preferential policies and strong investment to implement the plan, has an implementation roadmap and appropriate directions, without causing disturbance to the operation of higher education institutions and pedagogy.
