Vietnam: Amendments to the Regulations on assessment of lower and upper secondary school students

On August 26, 2020, the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam issued Circular 26/2020/TT-BGDDT on amendments to the Regulation on assessment and grading of lower secondary and upper secondary school students promulgated together with Circular 58/2011/TT-BGDDT.

The types of testing and assessment for lower and upper secondary school students in Vietnam are amended as follows:

- Regular testing and assessment in Vietnam:

+ Be conducted during the teaching and educational process to check and evaluate the implementation process and results of students' learning and training tasks;

+ Be conducted directly or online through methods such as Q&A, writing, presentations, practice, experiments, and learning products;

- The frequency of regular testing and assessment is not limited.

- Periodic testing and assessment in Vietnam:

+ Be conducted after each educational phase to evaluate students' learning and training results and the degree of fulfillment of their learning tasks;

- Periodic testing and assessment, including mid-term and end-of-term assessments, are carried out through: tests (on paper or on computers), practical assignments, and learning projects.
