Vietnam: Adjustments on the content of the application for admission to study abroad

On December 15, 2022, the Minister of Education and Training of Vietnam issued Circular 18/2022/TT-BGDDT amending Circular 06/2016/TT-BGDDT on the Regulation on enrollment to study abroad.

According to Vietnam's Circular 18/2022/TT-BGDDT, the contents of the application for admission to study abroad comply with Clause 2, Article 5 of Vietnam's Decree 86/2021/ND-CP, including:

- Official letter of the agency directly appointing the candidate (for the case of having a working agency);

- Commitment to perform the responsibilities of the person who is sent to apply for recruitment at the request of the direct management agency (for the case of a working agency);

- A curriculum vitae with a photograph and certification of the direct management agency (if one exists) or certification of the local government of the place of residence (if no public agency exists).cooperation);

- Certified copies of diplomas, professional certificates, and foreign language certificates that meet the scholarship program's requirements;

- A certificate of medical examination issued by a provincial-level medical facility or a centrally run city certifying eligibility to study abroad;

- Other documents (if any) as required by the scholarship program and the sending agency.

(Compared to Vietnam's Circular 06/2016/TT-BGDDT, based on the specific regulations of each scholarship program and the opinions of relevant units, the admissions unit stipulates the appropriate application documents for each subject and enrollment level.)

Vietnam's Circular 18/2022/TT-BGDDT takes effect from January 30, 2023.
