Vietnam: 06 key tasks in sustainable poverty reduction until 2030

On June 23, 2021, the Central Executive Committee of Vietnam issued Directive 05-CT/TW on strengthening party leadership for sustainable poverty reduction by 2030.

According to the Directive, the 6 key tasks and solutions that the Secretariat requires all levels of party committees, party organizations, authorities, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and mass organizations in Vietnam to focus on include:

(1) Including sustainable poverty reduction as a key component in annual socioeconomic development programs and plans; the 5-year socioeconomic development plan 2021-2025; and the 10-year socioeconomic development strategy for all levels, branches, localities, and units from 2021 to 2030.

(2) Encouraging propaganda, education, and awareness-raising among cadres and party members, particularly poverty-reduction leaders;

(3) Improving poverty reduction policies and the multidimensional poverty line by renewing poverty reduction approaches, implementing conditional support policies, strengthening social policy credits for the poor, and providing social protection for poor households that are unable to work in Vietnam.

(4) Allocating and effectively deploying investment resources to alleviate poverty;

(5) Continuing to innovate and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the state's management of poverty reduction;

(6) Intentions to research, thoroughly comprehend, and disseminate Vietnam's Directive 05's contents.
