Vietnam: 06 contents of international border guard cooperation beginning in 2022

On 11/11/2020, the National Assembly approved Law on Vietnam Border Guard 2020 , replacing Ordinance on Border Guard 1997 .

According to the Law on Vietnam Border Guard 2020, international cooperation on border guard includes the following content:

Establishing and developing border relations; developing friendly relations with bordering countries' authorities, people, and functional forces; and developing relations with relevant international organizations;
Signing and implementing international treaties and agreements on border guard; establishing and implementing legal bilateral and multilateral border defense cooperation mechanisms;
Negotiating and settling border and border-gate issues and cases; border patrol; controlling entry and exit, importing and export at border gates and cross border crossings according to the provisions of law; preventing and combating crime and law violations;
Fighting to prevent all actions that damage the border relations between Vietnam and other countries.
Preventing, combating, responding to and overcoming incidents; natural disasters; disasters; climate change; epidemics; search, rescue, and rescue;
Training, professional training, experience exchange on border guard, transfer of equipment, science and technology to strengthen the capacity to perform border guard duties.

More details can be found in the Law on Vietnam Border Guard 2020, which takes effect from January 1, 2022.
