Vietnam: 05 models of salt production, processing, and consumption in 2021-2030 period

Decision 766/QD-BNN-KTHT issuing the Implementation Plan as prescribed in Decision 1325/QD-TTg dated 31/8/2020 approved the Scheme on Development of the Salt Industry in the 2021-2030 period (Plan) issued on February 24, 2021.

According to the plan, one of the key tasks set out in this plan is to invest in the development of salt production associated with processing and consumption markets, including specific tasks:

- The task of investing in salt production infrastructure

- Investment tasks to support the construction and replication of salt production linkage models; develop cooperatives and cooperative groups for salt production and trading in order to increase added value along the value chain from production, processing, and consumption; in which, develop diversified models of salt production, processing, and consumption in association with economic restructuring and new rural construction in Vietnam, specifically:

(1) The model of connecting salt production along the value chain, from production to processing to salt product consumption.

(2) Agricultural extension model that uses science and technology to improve salt product productivity, quality, and value.

(3) Cooperative group model, collaboration in the production and trade of salt and salt products.

(4) The traditional model of salt production is associated with agriculture and rural tourism in Vietnam.

(5) Other models for increasing productivity, quality, income, and job creation in salt areas
