Vietnam: 03 points on the implementation of policies on poverty reduction and social security in 2021

The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs of Vietnam requests the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to urgently implement the following content on poverty reduction and social security policies in 2021:

• Pursuant to Article 2 of Vietnam's Decree 07/2021/ND-CP on regulations on multidimensional poverty line for the period of 2021-2025, organize the implementation of policies on poverty reduction and social security for poor and near-poor households, including households that have just escaped poverty, from January 1, 2021;

• In 2021, continue to implement poverty reduction mechanisms and policies for the 2016-2020 period for poor districts according to Vietnam's Decision 275/QD-TTg on approving the list of poor districts and districts escaping poverty in the 2018-2020 period and especially for difficult communes in coastal and island areas according to Vietnam's Decision 131/QD-TTg on approving the list of communes with special difficulties in coastal and island areas for the period 2016-2020 until there is a new text instead;

• In 2021, the poverty reduction mechanisms and policies for the 2016-2020 period will not be applied to extremely difficult communes in coastal areas and islands that have been recognized by competent authorities as wards and townships, or communes meeting new rural standards according to Vietnam's Decision 596/QD-TTg.
